Lovely to see some sunshine, but look at the tram tracks in the field - even on top of a hill the soil is still saturated and there are bare patches where the seeds have rotted and not germinated.

Today in the lane: ramson just flowering.

Today in the lane: full of green life!

Walked around the hillfort this afternoon. Much muddier than I'd anticipated! There are two flowing springs below the ramparts on the northern side of the hillfort, one of the reasons I suppose why the hillfort was built where it was - a reliable source of clean water. On the southern side are some very wet areas, I assume where the same water bearing rock strata get close to the surface to form mud.

Today in the lane: the rock cutting at Croford crossroads. Got the timing and the sun's position right (purely by accident!) it's not normally this brightly lit.

We walked into Wivey this afternoon. The postbox topper is the No 25 bus, which runs hourly to Taunton, but requires a subsidy, so the council are thinking of stopping it, of course. There is a campaign to keep it. The sheep we met on the way! 🐑

The sheep are back! They are rotating through various fields in quick succession, I suspect because the ground is so saturated it wouldn't be long before each field turned into an absolute quagmire and take time to recover. (I've worked on farms but never dealt with sheep - can anyone confirm that?) What's surprising is that I never see them being transported, they're here one day and there the next - '186 sheep to beam up Scotty!'
