We have a kind of data sickness. It’s developed in us a mass habit of mind that having the right data makes you right. It doesn’t.
More often than not, data for the majority of what contributed to the matter being discussed *wasn’t captured*. And it wasn’t because it can’t and/or shouldn’t be.
We need to see data as an often useful heuristic, not a perfect hammer to wield as if we were Thor.
