It probably will not shock you to find out that big tech’s promises to never again suppress embarrassing leaked content about a political figure came with a catch. Apparently, it only applies when that political figure is a Democrat.

The #VanceDossier PDF is linked from Ken Klippenstein's #substack. Links are being blocked on #xitter and all #meta social media platforms. The given reason is that it includes his address so it facilitates doxxing. imo he should definitely repost it with that omitted. But that folks like Ken still rely on all these corporate platforms to distribute info really frustrates me. Letting info valuable to the public go viral if the people decide, w/o gatekeepers, is why I support the #SocialWeb.

Technically, can #bluesky do something like block linking to the #VanceDossier? I don't understand how #ATproto really works enough to figure this out. It seems like the company will always retain enough control to do this but maybe not.

I know #ActivityPub means we can't really exercise that control here. but there is probably enough user concentration on certain servers and agreement among admins that it could effectively be done. only to stuff the establishment left doesn't like tho :(

#threads and #xitter are blocking links to the #VanceDossier. would any server on fedi do that? can we easily limit links here? or if accounts did link to it, would admins block those accounts or their server? if we had full federation with #meta, how would they treat a server here linking to it? I think that's clearly a horrible idea. everybody should have learned from the Biden laptop story. imo we should only moderate for harassment, not misinfo or bad opinions. #SocialWeb #fediblockmeta
