So I got myself a couple of IBM PS/2 model P70 386[1] luggable computers. I see they're quite the fad in some corners of the Retroverse, so I thought I'd pull my usual shenanigans and install OS/2 on one. I went with version 2.11 which is probably the most lightweight version, while also being really beautiful. I'll document my travails in this thread..

Sachen gibt's… dieses Programm hatte ich im Jahr 2000 geschrieben und es war vermutlich damals schon veraltet.

Widerstände in der #Elektronik haben mindestens 4 Ringe als Kennzeichnung, viele aber auch 5 oder 6.

Aber die Vorlage meines Vaters, so ein Papierteil mit vier Scheiben drin zum drehen, wie bei einer Parkuhr, war vermutlich aus den 70ern. Genauso wie die im Haus herumliegenden Widerstände.

Der eigentliche Wahnwitz ist aber, dass das Programm, geschrieben in Tcl/Tk im Jahr 2000, nochmal aktualisiert 2001, einfach heute noch out-of-the-box auf meinem #Linux-Rechner läuft.

Als großspuriger Pennäler hatte ich es damals irgendwo unter GNU GPL hochgeladen.

EDIT: Noch wahnwitziger – das Ding schaltet je nach Environment zwischen Englisch und Deutsch um und lief damals auch noch auf… #OS2 – wie ein anderer, aufgefundener alter Screenshot beweist… wenn auch mangels Font mit "W" statt "Ω", nix Unicode damals.

My efforts to install Odin under OS/2 Warp 3 have been less than satisfying. What I have done:
* Upgrade Warp 3 to FP 40.
* Install tcpip ("INTERNET" folder of Warp 3 Bonus CD)
* Install kernel with *.sym file (W30821U)

What I get:
* Error SYS3190 (has apparently something to do with libc066.dll)

Any idea what to try next?

I hate trying to work with OS/2. I'm told this worked on IBM systems, but it's a pain in the ass on anything else. Right now, it can see the drive, crate partitions, but not volumes. And it needs volumes to install.

I'm at the point where I be happy if it nuked my two windows installs (because I can put those back) if it would just install itself....
