Tuesday night #boardgames and #craftbeer with the #VCSB meetup in #thousandoaks

A bunch of new, to us, gamers and one new/old game in Black Gold. Find, extract, and sell oil in 1920s Texas. It’s a wild ride with fluctuating prices. Too random for some perhaps. Bob brought along Æterna again. I must give that a play because  #MartinWallace

A fun game of AuZtralia with 4 players. Stupid kangaroos! It’s a blast of a #martinwallace design with a semi-uncooperative win condition. We lost to the game😬

Our table recruited some others to end the night with a 7 player game of 7 Wonders Architects. Always good.

Other tables played Rebirth Ireland , Yokohama, and Merchants of the Dark Road.

A bunch of the newbies are now regulars. Welcome folks.

It was the first play for me of the 60 Second City #boardgame Afterwards John and Valerie played. Not bad for $6 at Target!

Games played included: The Field of the Cloth of Gold, 60 Second City x2, Qwixx, Ticket to Ride, Jamaica, No Thanks, Codenames, Agricola, Ivanhoe, Hollywood 1947, Mantis, Cascadia, and Vegas.

Some pics of #boardgames at ConQuest Ventura yesterday. CQV is a 3 day #tabletopgaming com in Ventura, CA. Gamers came from far and wide. Greg was visiting from Texas. Some of my #SoCalWargamers pals came up from LA and further. Members of my local #VCSB group also attended. It was good to see a bunch of folks I don’t see very often.

The new year has brought an influx of newcomers to the group. We always have a bunch of suitable games at hand that we can teach with ease and confidence.
At the end of the night we gathered stragglers together for Codenames. Always fun.

Like last week, Mark and I met up early to play a short 2-player wargame. This week was Pocket Battles: Confederacy vs Union. I lost #dicehateme

Driving home from #VCSB #boardgames on Tuesday night was hairy with the high winds. Lots of flying debris hitting the car. The roads were littered with leaves and branches.
Little did I know that a fire had broken out 30 miles away in Pacific Palisades. And that was just a start of it. My power went out at 1am and only just came back. Losing power was merely an inconvenience compared to watch others are experiencing. Stay safe folks.
👍 Cheers to the emergency services and other organizations 👍

While the winds whipped around outside the #VCSB played #boardgames on Tuesday night. Mark and I started with Red Flag over Paris. Ted taught Mike how to play Combat Commander Europe. They swapped sides and played again.

Games played included: Life of the Amazonia, Qwixx, Spacebase, Nucleum Australia, Cosmic Encounter, Combat Commander Europe x2, Tsuro x2, Hickory Dickory, Vegas, and Red Flag over Paris.

Welcome to a bunch of newcomers too!

My local #VCSB #boardgames group is hosting another BOXING DOG next week aka a day of opening gaming on Boxing Day aka on the day after Christmas.

Unfortunately no actual doggos will be involved, unfortunately, as DOG means Day of Gaming. On the plus side we will be starting earlier than normal so that allows for games with longer play times. Hint, hint.

A not so rare thing happened while I taught the #MartinWallace designed #boardgame AuZtralia. I got a rule wrong 😞 Oops. Yes it happens. It didn't break the game too much. I made up for my error by correcting another game teacher's rules errors. Twice 🤪
Rules mistakes happen folks. Fix it the best that you can and move on.

Each #boardgame group has it's own dynamics; this range from the folks who attend, what they like to play, and can even be when they attend. Since we changed locations we have had to adapt to a myriad of changes. It's always a good idea to be flexible in what games you bring along and what games you are happy to play. So adapt and respond to the group situation and your group will thrive!
