If livestock are treated that kills the parasites already in their meat but it doesn't magically teleport them back out, only surgical removal can do that.

USDA confirms New World screwworm fly has arrived in Texas
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has confirmed that the New World screwworm fly has arrived in south Texas. The case announced Wednesday marks the first time in decades that the flesh-eating parasite has threatened the nation's cattle industry and only the third time it has appeared in the U.S. in that time. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the case was found in a 3-week-old calf in LaPryor, Texas. The Texas state veterinarian has established a 12-mile quarantine zone to prevent animals from moving out of that are without an inspection. Officials were quick to say that the food supply is not compromised by the infestation.

The most recent map on the spread of #NewWorldScrewworm from #Trump's #USDA is from June 1st & doesn't include the Texas livestock detection publicly confirmed yesterday on June 3rd. They've only been updating the map once a week & are trying to detect fertile flies while dumping millions of radiation sterilized flies in the same area to prevent the spread, like looking for a needle in a haystack.
