I'd forgotten how thoroughly ruthless and unlikeable the Atoll's inhabitants, along with #KevinCostner's Mariner, start off in this movie, but damn if #JamesNewtonHoward's pirate inspired soundtrack doesn't elevate this with a sense of high adventure.

Thankfully #DennisHopper's hillariously villainous Deacon brings an insane levity to the vicious world.

Is the #UlyssesCut better? It's got more worldbuilding, but sometimes less is more.
