Somehow it’s always like that, I tend to overpack for no good reason despite being oh so weight conscious. And then on trail I notice every unnecessary gram.

An issue that confronts the would-be urban walker determined to traverse a megacity from one boundary to the other: do you outfit and equip yourself for ordinary urbanity, or for the walk?

I’m halfway minded to adopt some of the practices and tactics I use in #ultrarunning and #ultralight hiking, but by the same token poles and hydration bladders and so on stick out like a sore thumb. You want to be able to move through crowds, duck into bodegas, pet the local cats, etc.

Quick random question for #London #ultralight folks: is there anywhere you recommend for minor technical fabric repairs/retaping of seams?

My partner has a much-loved bag in ripstop polyamide that she’d rather repair than replace, after eleven years of daily service, and I’m right there with her. Any help you can render very greatly appreciated!

it was one of many days during my long crossing thruhike (aug 2025, norway) that started gnarly! there was a ton of rain and cold wind but after some hours the weather finally calmed down a bit and when i reached the Dalstuva peak (540m) by midday i was rewarded with this beautiful view
