Also known as compatible schemes #UltraHDR (Google), #SuperHDR (Samsung), #AdaptiveHDR (Apple). I see there is https://github.com/google/libultrahdr but it doesn't claim ISO compatibility so maybe not the best option? From Android 15+ jpegs are coded with both UltraHDR and ISO compliant gain maps.
Ultra HDR is a true HDR image format, and is backcompatible. libultrahdr is the reference codec for the Ultra HDR format. The codecs that support the format can render the HDR intent of the image...
I case you wonder... 5 weeks later, #Google still didn't bring the #ultrahdr feature to #googlephotos to me.
It appeared for 1 day (!) to be removed the next day. Then the old HDR effect did not work, now it's back to the old HDR effect working, but UltraHDR is nowhere to be found.
Looking for alternatives to HDR (display! not photo taking hdr) for photos on Android. Nothing!
Wow... now give my hopes to #apng
(And hopes are low because APNG can't be uploaded to Mastodon?!)

Ultra HDR ist wieder weg und HDR effect zurück. Langsam habe ich bedenken meine Fotos bei #Google Photos zu speichern. Bei dem Chaos. Die haben das nicht mehr unter Kontrolle glaube ich.

The photos disaster continues after the Ultra HDR feature appeared, components couldn't be installed. Now #UltraHDR is gone again and shows the old HDR effect.
If Google can't even deliver this feature, I fear for the whole safety and reliability of #googlephotos

Tja, mit #UltraHDR sieht es bei Android schlecht aus.
AVIF wird kaum unterstuetzt (2 Apps O.o), Google Photos zeigt mir AVIF nur im Web an, auf dem Smartphone nichts, HEIC ist quasi Apple-only, und dass was Google macht mit UltraHDR in Google Photos (was es ja offiziell gar nicht gibt lt. Google :#) ist gar kein Standard und funktioniert nur in Google Photos (JPEG mit UltraHDR ausserhalb nur ohne UltraHDR).
Frustrierend.
This is insane. After a week long exchange of mails, Google denies #ultrahdr exists:
"We highly appreciate you taking the time to contact us for your concern. To understand how inconvenient this is however as per checking with our backend team HDR effect is the only one available as of the moment. Once a new available feature is added in Google Photos, we will be rolling it out and have it available to as many users as we can; however as of the moment there is no Ultra HDR feature yet."
