Trump Says Eric is Biden’s Fault

Responding to a reporter’s question about Eric, Trump shot back, “That was Biden. That wasn’t Trump.”

The #garden gave me way more #turnips than expected this year — so I went all in on natural #fermentation!
From left to right:
– Turnip with turmeric and garlic: warm and full of character
– Turnip with beet and strawberry: sweet, tangy, and beautifully pink
– Turnip with mint: fresh, crunchy, and aromatic
All fermenting slowly in a 1% brine, with a little help from time and friendly microbes. #Homemade #probiotics for the win!

I always forget how quick the Hakurei turnips are to sprout! I'm not sure they've ever been 2 days though. I'm impressed.

Took advantage of our low temps to cold stratify some woolly sunflower and skirret seeds outdoors and then got inspired to get some early starts underway as well.

I found an old Ikea mini greenhouse for sale second hand complete with led grow lights for under $20 at the end of the summer, which is especially helpful in keeping the cat away from the new seedlings. He decapitated a bunch last year.

Starts for this year, so far, are:

Bull's Blood Beet
Delft Perpetual Leek, a perennial leek variety
Perennial Chard
Hakurei Japanese Turnips

I cluster sew in small pots to save space which also tends to increase productivity. Not great for carrots or parsnips though, as their roots tend to get entangled.

Playing #Halloween catch up, been a busy few weeks, thanks to those who asked after #DrBeak! Our amazing neighbours had a #tenement #Halloween party, guess which #Pumpkin #DrBeak carved? #Samhuinn #Samhain #Edinburgh #Scotland #Pumpkins #Turnips #Turnip #Lantern #Neeps #Scotland #Scottish #Spooky #JackoLantern #HappyHalloween
Anyone have any particularly good #recipes for small white #turnips? I don’t love them but it’s that time again for the veg box

Slow and challenging season this year, yet they still grow. First harvest.

The Faroese native #Angelica archangelica (#hvonn) was gathered in the wild and cultivated in gardens. It was served as a dessert, with cream or thick sour milk.

Crops such as #potatoes, #turnips and other roots were only grown in the small patches of cultivated soil. Wild plants have therefore been of some importance for the #Faroese people.

The village of #Hvannasund took its name from the plant - it's "the sound of angelicas".
