Dear Friends,
This is an assistant conductor or conductor (I have a query out on this) looking out their window to help align this #train to the bridge plates that are put in place over closed tracks that are adjacent to the train platform. It's a delicate maneuver.

Dear Friends, Once upon a time here I tried out the hashtag #TransitTuesday to highlight the virtues, fun, oddities, perils, or whatever, of public transportation. Locally our #MassTransit lives center on the east-west running Long Island Rail Road (190 years old). The view out the windows on older trains is getting foggy. The polymeric plastic windows are sun damaged. This is what it looks like through the windows at the Jamaica Station transfer point.

Dear Friends,
My #TransitTuesday and #ClimateDiary entry today. For train enthusiasts this is a M3 train built about 40 years ago. This photo was made about 5 years ago but many are still in service. They are good for #photography because they don't have the high-back plastic bucket seats that limit sight lines of later carriages. Also, much more space for overhead storage than later and current models.

Dear Friends,
Electric trains are part of the #ClimateSolutions conversation. Much of the Long Island Rail Road System is electrified. But, sadly, much is not. Diesel trains are the rule further east on Long Island where electrification has not reached. Incredible!
This is The Long Island Railroad at Huntington Station.
