Most people think the name means "bull lizard", from the Latin "taurus" or Spanish "Toro", but its might actually be from the Greek "toreo" meaning "to perforate". This is an allusion to the fenestrae in the frill itself.

Returning to drawing an old favourite of mine, a cute chubby torosaur. This time with feathers!
...and with this, I am at the end of my huge backlog from last three years. Pace of uploads will somewhat slow down, I am sorry to say. More in works, at various levels of doodle/cleanup/needing to scan them, though.

For #SciArtSeptember prompt cold blooded, a favourite dinosaur: the torosaurus.
Torosaurus with its big frill had the largest known head of any land animal. It was a sort of long-frilled Ceratopsians who lived in at the end of the Cretaceous period, 70 to 65 millon years ago. It was a contemporary of the best-known of the horned dinosaurs, the Triceratops. Some recent research suggests that Torosaurus were not
