In this same vein, having the sewing machine out and working on a project like this has made me realize how much I *miss* sewing. It's something I've done literally my whole life.
As a college freshman, I schlepped a sewing machine and two rubbermaid tubs full of fabric and other supplies into my dorm room. I'd cart them down to the basement and sew down there. One Halloween, I made all my friends (and myself) Harry Potter robes (it was the zeitgeist, fuck TERFs). I made a bunch of LOTR fandom costumes too. Then I got into the SCA and started making medieval clothes.
Not costumes - clothes. For working in, because normally when I was at SCA events I was working in the kitchen, and you don't wear your princess dress to be a scullery maid.
But I've always been a sewist.
Until I didn't have room to sew. Now I have room again, and I'm remembering how much I love it. Contemplating a little space makeover to give me a sewing space, finances cooperating, maybe around my birthday in March.
I'd have to have projects to work on? But I'm sure I can find something.
