IoT Platforms for Makers
I’ve been looking at several Internet of Things (IoT) cloud platforms to support a new series of connected projects. The ideal platform would have a no-subscription (free) option as well as an affordable paid tier that offers expanded resources when a project requires more. My intended audience of students, makers, scientists and artists will want to get started quickly, with low complexity and an easy path to early success.

I stubbornly wanted to run all components in #kubernetes as a learning experience and to ease rollout on other farms, but wooow did I do a lot of learning.

🧐ThingsBoard is an open-source IoT platform for data collection, processing, visualization, and device management.
During an assessment a Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI) vulnerability has been discovered. It enables attackers to dynamically create and modify templates, that are used for automated generation of mail content, which results in the execution of arbitrary system commands.
The vulnerability was reported to the vendor under the Responsible Disclosure Policy and subsequently fixed for #moresecurity. More information can be found here 👩💻👨💻👇

Wolfgang BuschInstalling my #lorawan gateway outside for range tests. Location bad but still urban range 600m-900m. For Indoor basement coverage I would say 300m-500m. The whole system is now powered by #opensource tools like #chirpstack and #thingsboard
