Was watching a video where someone was giving constructive criticism on what needs to happen for #TheYearOfTheLinuxDesktop, and while he had a lot of praise for #KDE #Plasma, he commented that he thought the UI design was stuck in 2010.
I couldn't help but think, "Young man, that was like the very last year that UI design didn't completely suck!" XD
I got my aunt 100% switched over from Windows 10/11 to Linux (Fedora KDE) on both her PCs.
Please stop talking/memeing about #TheYearOfTheLinuxDesktop as if it's some kind of mythical unicorn.
The year of the Linux desktop is TODAY.
Deets: I am there to help out when she gets stuck, but it's very rare, and it's mostly to do with adapting to #Thunderbird from snOutlook (and adapting t-bird to her). And she's not a techie.
Has anyone seen something on #Ubuntu 23.10 where the screen blanks again about 30 seconds after *resuming* or unlocking the screen? A simple keypress brings the screen back so it feels like a buggy screensaver, but I can't find anything installed or any setting this might correspond to.
Is it finally the year of the Linux desktop, or are Linux users just less likely to be affected by the overall decline in the desktop's relevancy?
