‘The World at War’ and the Holocaust at 50 | History Today

There were two Great War documentaries that could not be made today. One was about the Great War by the BBC in the 1960s. The second, made by ITV, which could not have been done without the tireless work by researchers like Susan McConachy and Raye Farr, who found ways to get people to talk. #TheWorldAtWar turns 50 this year, and I still remember haunting scenes from it, 40 years after I first saw it. Maybe more people should watch it.

I plan to watch this. I love WWII history, biography. Seen many docs/movies. #TheWorldAtWar, to me, still reigns supreme. Have the dvd set, but wondering, is Blu-ray worth getting? Anyway, looking forward to #Oppenheimer doc Sunday night

Wondering why penalties for #protest are being made more draconian in #Australia?

In my current state, I’ve started watching #TheWorldAtWar, which was an #ITV #TV #series about the history of the #SecondWorldWar. This was when people could make 26 one-hour episodes that really went into the depths of a topic and tried to have at least some level of objectivity. The somewhat alarming thing is how things today are resonating with it.
