Finished _The Fire Next Time_.

My previous exposure to James Baldwin had only been video clips shared on the internet. I was mesmerized by his unique expression of ideas and experiences.

Baldwin’s writing in this book does not disappoint along those lines. He has an incredible way with words.

Reading #JamesBaldwin #TheFireNextTime I’m struck by the rage he describes feeling being refused service at an airport bar.

I couldn’t help but think of the story #bellhooks tells about 20 years later in #KillingRage about the rage she felt over a seating “mix up” that pushed her Black friend to the back of a plane.

It seems like there’s something about air travel that brings out the worst in people and it so often impacts the most marginalized.
