Today in Labor History March 24, 1974: The Coalition of Labor Union Women was founded on this date in Chicago by 3,000 women trade unionists from 58 labor organizations. The coalition was created to promote equal rights and better wages and working conditions for women workers. Today there are tens of thousands of CLUW members in 75 chapters throughout the United States.

About 1 in every 1000 to 1100 babies worldwide is born with Down syndrome.
In India, nearly 1 in 830 live births has Down syndrome.
People with Down syndrome often face social stigma and fewer opportunities.
The day reminds us to support their rights, inclusion, and independence.
The 14th World Down Syndrome Day Conference in New York will discuss legal rights and decision-making for people with Down syndrome.
