Nel panorama del pensiero critico contemporaneo, poche voci hanno saputo intrecciare con altrettanta forza i temi dell’educazione, dell’identità e della trasformazione sociale quanto quella di bell hooks, scrittrice, intellettuale e attivista che ha dedicato la sua vita a ripensare i fondamenti stessi del sapere e delle sue istituzioni. Il suo pensiero si costruisce all’intersezione tra razza, genere e classe, riconoscendo come queste dimensioni si sovrappongono e si rafforzano a vicenda nel produrre oppressione, ma anche resistenza. 

Per il terzo appuntamento del Public Program di Pedagogia della Speranza, la scrittrice, giornalista e traduttrice Maria Nadotti, tra le prime studiose ad aver diffuso in Italia negli anni Novanta gli scritti di bell hooks a un pubblico più ampio, esplorerà alcuni concetti chiave della sua opera.

Nel corso di una conversazione con Anna Chiara Cimoli, docente di Storia dell’arte contemporanea ed esperta di pratiche partecipative, e con Ale Blue Santambrogio, pedagogista e formatorə, si ripercorreranno le idee di bell hooks soffermandosi sull’educazione come pratica di libertà e sulla marginalità come prospettiva decentrata da cui è possibile sviluppare e immaginare culture di resistenza.
