L'Unità: Formula Uno, saltano i Gran Premi in Bahrein e Arabia Saudita: la guerra in Iran ferma il Mondiale

I Gran Premi di Formula Uno in Bahrein e Arabia Saudita sono stati cancellati. La decisione, da tempo nell’aria, è riportata da Sky Sports Germania.
Secondo l’emittente tedesca, le gare in Bahrein e a Gedda (Arabia Saudita) sono state annullate ed è atteso un annuncio ufficiale nel corso di questo fine settimana, in cui il circus della F1 è impegnato in Cina per il secondo Gp della stagione.
Il Gran Premio del Bahrein era in programma per il 12 aprile, mentre il Gran Premio dell’Arabia Saudita si sarebbe dovuto svolgere una settimana dopo, il 19 aprile: ma in Medio Oriente si dovrebbe tornare anche tra diversi mesi, con gli appuntamenti in Qatar del 29 novembre e ad Abu Dhabi il 6 dicembre per la conclusione della stagione. I due Gp cancellati non saranno sostituiti in calendario.
Una mossa obbligata e legata al conflitto che sta infiammando il Medio Oriente ormai dal 28 febbraio scorso, a seguito dell’attacco congiunto di Stati Uniti ed Israele contro l’Iran, e della successiva reazione della Repubblica Islamica, che ha colpito gran parte dei Paesi nella Regione colpendo le basi militari statunitensi ospitate nell’area ma anche obiettivi civili.
D’altra parte la Formula 1 è solo uno degli sport che negli anni più recenti è stato fortemente interessato dalla straordinaria potenza economica dei Paesi del Medio Oriente, che a suon di dollari sono riusciti a portare in luoghi di scarsa tradizione eventi planetari come il Mondiale di calcio, nel 2022 in Qatar, ma anche eventi legati al basket, al tennis, al golf.
E proprio a causa del conflitto nei giorni scorsi giorni era arrivata la comunicazione da Teheran della rinuncia alla partecipazione alla Coppa del mondo di calcio, che quest’anno si terrà in Messico, Canada e Stati Uniti.

According to the German broadcaster, the races in Bahrain and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) have been cancelled, and an official announcement is expected during this weekend, when the F1 circus is engaged in China for the second GP of the season.

The Bahrain Grand Prix was scheduled for April 12th, while the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix was due to take place a week later, April 19th; but in the Middle East, a return is expected in several months, with appointments in Qatar on November 29th and in Abu Dhabi on December 6th to conclude the season. The two cancelled GPs will not be replaced in the calendar.

A forced move linked to the conflict that has been inflaming the Middle East since February 28th, following the joint attack by the United States and Israel against Iran, and the subsequent reaction of the Islamic Republic, which struck much of the countries in the region, hitting US military bases hosted in the area but also civilian targets.

On the other hand, Formula 1 is just one of the sports that in recent years has been strongly interested by the extraordinary economic power of the Middle Eastern countries, which, with dollar bills, have managed to bring to places with little tradition, planetary events such as the World Cup, in 2022 in Qatar, but also events related to basketball, tennis, golf.

And precisely due to the conflict in recent days, communication arrived from Tehran of the renunciation of participation in the World Cup of Football, which this year will be held in Mexico, Canada and the United States.

Agi: La Formula 1 verso la cancellazione dei GP di Bahrein e Arabia Saudita

AGI - Dopo il Gran Premio del Giappone di fine mese, la Formula Uno rischia di restare ferma fino ai primi di maggio. Secondo "Sky Sport Deutschland", alla luce della situazione in Medio Oriente, il circus avrebbe deciso di cancellare i Gp previsti in Bahrein (12 aprile) e Arabia Saudita (19 aprile).
Gare che non potranno essere recuperate visto il calendario fitto, con la F1 che dopo Suzuka ripartirebbe così direttamente da Miami nel weekend dell'1-3 maggio. Restano invece per il momento confermate le tappe in Qatar e Abu Dhabi, in programma rispettivamente il 29 novembre e il 6 dicembre, che chiuderanno la stagione.
Decisione accelerata e costi
Stando alla Bild, la F1 si era data fino al 20 marzo per prendere una decisione finale, visto che oltre quel termine non sarebbe stato possibile organizzare in tempo il trasferimento di personale e materiali, ma i recenti attacchi subiti dal Bahrein avrebbero accelerato il processo. Fra l'altro, essendo una decisione della F1, gli organizzatori del Gp di Manama non dovranno più sborsare i 40 milioni di dollari previsti dalla 'hosting fee'.
Per quanto riguarda l'Arabia Saudita, a Gedda avrebbero cercato fino all'ultimo di mantenere il Gp, offrendosi di organizzare charter dedicati per team e personale, ma senza successo visti gli ostacoli logistici.
Pur cancellando i due appuntamenti, la F1 garantirebbe il minimo di 22 Gran Premi previsto dai contratti per i diritti televisivi.

Furthermore, being a decision by F1, the organizers of the Bahrain Grand Prix will no longer have to pay the $40 million “hosting fee.”

Regarding Saudi Arabia, Jeddah was trying to maintain the GP until the last minute, offering to organize charter flights for teams and personnel, but without success given the logistical obstacles.

Despite canceling the two appointments, F1 would guarantee the minimum of 22 Grand Prix foreseen by the contracts for television rights.
