TEX RITTER
Blood On The Saddle
1960 Canada MONO pressing

Unequivocally one of my all-time favorite old school #country albums. And I would say that about the album cover as well.

I’ve mentioned numerous times on here that I developed my love for classic country and western as a kid from my uncles.
My Uncle Alfio was the one responsible for first playing me Tex Ritter, and Blood On The Saddle was ground zero.

The title track is one of the great songs of all time.
It is simultaneously grisly and horrific, but also unbelievably hilarious. Not written by Ritter, but certainly popularized by him.

The album takes off from there, and your smile never wanes until the record’s over.

It’s just so friggin good.

Stan Kenton! Tex Ritter! is an album by the Stan Kenton Orchestra with country music vocalist Tex Ritter performing country music compositions arranged in a big band style recorded and released by Capitol Records in 1962.

The Allmusic review by Bruce Eder noted "overall this wasn't the worst idea in the world. The public never bought it, however, and the album was quickly deleted". - Wikipedia
