The Kenton Era is a compilation album by pianist and bandleader Stan Kenton featuring recordings from 1940 to 1954 which was originally released in two limited edition box sets, as fifteen 7 inch 45 rpm discs and four 12 inch LPs, on Capitol in 1955.

The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow states "Kenton is heard reminiscing about his first 15 years in the business, there are some selections taken from his famous 1941 stint at the Rendezvous Ballroom in Balboa, CA, numbers from rehearsals in 1944, radio airchecks dating from 1944-48, some startling performances by Kenton's Innovations orchestra of 1950-51 and a few swinging numbers from his 1952-53 big band. Virtually all of the music is rare, making this an essential acquisition for collectors" - Wikipedia

Will Big Bands Ever Come Back? by Duke Ellington, released in 1965 on Reprise.

Despite being a cash LP featuring the Ellington Orchestra doing versions of well-known swing tunes, this is still a quality LP but then the Duke did not make a bad record in his life.

Kenton / Wagner is an album by the Stan Kenton Orchestra performing jazz arrangements of Richard Wagner's compositions recorded in 1964 and released by Capitol Records.

The Allmusic review by Scott Yanow noted "Somehow Kenton turns Wagner's music into jazz, capturing the intense emotion, pomposity and drama with daring ideas. Not for all tastes, this LP was one of Stan Kenton's last innovative recordings" - Wikipedia

Finian's Rainbow is an album by bandleader Stan Kenton recorded in 1968 for Capitol Records.

The Allmusic review by Lindsay Planer says "Stan Kenton (piano/arranger) lends his highly stylistic touch to an assortment of Broadway and silver screen selections on the appropriately-titled Finian's Rainbow (1968). His proficiency as a jazz arranger and consummate musician provide unique interpretations on ten familiar melodies -- five taken from the score of Finian's Rainbow [Original Broadway Cast] (1947), and five from films". - Wikipedia

The World We Know is an album by bandleader Stan Kenton recorded in 1967 by Capitol Records.

The Allmusic review by Lindsay Planer says "Combining divergent reworkings of pop music standards with his own undeniably unique originals, Kenton applies his trademark intricate and individual harmonic phrasings. The consistent results bear out his ability to augment his highly stylized arrangements within a framework of familiarity... While enthusiasts of the artist's work will undoubtedly be impressed, to modern ears the easy listening orchestration may seem heavy-handed, if not lackluster - Wikipedia

The Jazz Compositions of Dee Barton is an album by bandleader Stan Kenton recorded in 1967 by Capitol Records.

The album has become the most important artistic achievement by the Kenton organization from that late 1960s era of otherwise desperate attempts at achieving commercial success. The album was different and was not cast in the typical Kenton style most of his fans were familiar with. When the album is heard with broader ears there are "intriguing colors and attractive themes interacting with typical Kentonian sounds and dissonance." Trombonist Jim Amlotte sums up this album well, "This is what Stan wanted. He didn't want a copy-cat of what had gone before. Stan didn't like to look back - he was always moving forward to the next thing." - Wikipedia
