Work is 1/2 hour getting coffee to get the dopamine you need to start work, 1 hour of trying to start, 30 min of actual work, 1 hour of resting from actual work, 2 minutes of seeing Jira notifications and emails and saying fuck it and another hour of trying to get back to work.

Rinse repeat

The last segment of my working life was doing technical writing for software companies in #SiliconValley. Understanding the software was easy, I had been a programmer for a long time before becoming a #techWriter.

The hard part was trying to put things into terms my audience would 'get' and I really admire people who can do that.
That’s why I devour everything @Daojoan sends out.

She got me to #Vivaldi and #Joplin and helped me see that privacy and software freedom is more than #LibreOffice and #ProtonMail.
Go read her stuff. You won’t be disappointed.

@nixCraft The #techwriter is always the last to know.

Ok serious question to #Jira users. I find using it throughout the day strains and exhausts my brain due to the numerous links, UI features. And when I switch from one tab to another, especially to a Jira page, I suddenly forget what I am supposed to do on the Jira page. How do you all manage this??

Or is it just me??

Public utilities are the target of many #cyber #attacks. I’m researching for a new article. Drop a link if you have some good intel. TIA

Writing code is like plain ol writing, except that if you forget that one comma there will be hell to pay.

Gah! at Microsoft documentation not matching what incantations and sacrifices you must do to print a document as booklet.

Neither their Mac or Windows docs were accurate. And why both would want to print *4* pages per side by default on the booklet setting, I have no idea. 2 pages per side wasn't even an option.

Add to that, the UI and options (Office 365) are frustratingly different across both platforms.

Puzzled out a proof-print by doing the booklet layout with my printer options, not Word. With a great many curses.
