I really want to know what absolutely insane person is writing the episode descriptions for The Big O on TVDB.  Someone was having a good night when they were writing these out.

Season 2 Episode 10:
Beck!!!!! I love it when that guy shows up; it makes me feel all alliterative inside. Let's see...
Beck's back, with an army of annoying android assassins [oh yeah, it's gonna be one of those episodes].
Alex Rosewater deals with his Daddy Issues in a very negative way [so long, Amber Waves of Grain(tm)], while at the same using Beck to kidnap R. Dorothy. And we're just gettin' warmed up...

Like, I kind of love it, and to be fair the episode description for the last episode makes about as much sense as the episode itself, but jeez

Season 2 Episode 13:
From the cover of ""Scientific American"", August 2003... ""ARE YOU A HOLOGRAM? (Quantum physics says the entire universe might be)""
Now just imagine if that was really the case, and you'll have ""The Show Must Go On"" in a nutshell, which is apparently where Paradigm City has been all these years. As for the rest...
R. Dorothy rises from her deathbed, thanks (in part) to Beck. Roger Smith and Alex Rosewater stage the Showdown of the Century, while Gordon Rosewater shows Angel her true destiny.
Oh, and that little prank by Adult Swim? We are not amused.

What Adult Swim prank???

You think dealing with some of the editors at Wikipedia is bad, wait until you have a tussle with some of the editors and admins at theTVDB. πŸ˜‚ Some of them just make no sense and are militant in screwing up series and show naming and episode placements. #TVDB #TheTVDB #Emby #JellyFin #Plex

I found this cool #Fediverse software called #NeoDB via @dansup 's awesome FediDB website.

https://fedidb.com/software/neodb?version=latest&registration=open

It's a tracking / shelf platform for #TV / #drama, #movies / #films, #books, and #games

Automated import from #Goodreads work well. Just provide the required URL and voila. If it doesn't appear immediately, it is probably waiting for server workers or waiting for the server load to lower or Goodreads request limit, just be patient, only submit the same URL once! If in doubt, contact the admins instead of resubmitting.

Unfortunately, the software doesn't support import (automated, API, or manual) from Trakt, SIMKL, MyAnimeList, and other popular tracking/shelf services for TV/drama and movies/films. There is one, Douban or something, which I think is popular in the Chinese and Japanese speaking markets.

Anyway, what if the item you want to add doesn't exist in the database yet?

Worry not! There are three ways NeoDB software populates its database.

* Method 1: You can add the details yourself

* Method 2: Search the other NeoDB instances for existing similar items

* Method 3: Search for the item from TMDB, IMDB, IGDB, Steam, Goodreads, and other supported sites (no TVDB), and paste the URL to NeoDB's search box and it will import it to your instance

Method 2 is already sweet. That is the entire idea of the #SocialWeb. But Method 3 is even sweeter!

Methods 2 and 3 are the best because it's a win-win for everyone. Regular users can forget about manually re-entering new data. Seriously, who wants to manually duplicate data from one DB to another? I certainly don't! I contribute to #TMDB but I'm definitely not repeating the same effort in #TVDB.

Secondly, there's no need for instances to duplicate large databases just to ensure their site is useful for any user. Items are added as local users interact with the items. It keeps the db small instead of having thousands of items no one has interacted to yet (or probably not).

~~Hmm… I haven't checked but I think music is not supported (yet?). NeoDB can use the largest #OpenDB for music: #Musicbrainz ~~

UPDATE: Music is supported, as well as, #podcasts .

The show art on #TVDB in #Emby for #Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Universe looks so good.

Atlantis and Universe I just added, but I have yet to convert and include them in Emby, SG-1 I have 178 episodes left to watch … yikes.

OK, so Sonarr devs refuse to even add an option to use TMDB instead of TVDB for metadata source.

fedizens, do you have an alternative to Sonarr you'd suggest I use?

thanks in advance!

Having #Sonarr/#Radarr running for my #Plex setup has been such a gaaaaaaamechanger 😩 Like I don't need to have a .txt/.md file to keep track of what series I wanna add or in the process of adding, and go to #TVDB to check if a new episode/season is out, go look for them on #torrent sites, etc.

I literally just get on my
#Overseerr server, request for a show/movie, and Sonarr/Radarr would just track them for me. Anytime a new episode/release is out, boom it's already been downloaded and added to my Plex server ready to watch. Should've done this a LONG time ago.
The way the new #doctorwho is being handled by #TMDB, #TVDB, #Trakt, Sonarr and Plex, Jellyfin and Emby is a complete and utter mess.
It's almost impossible to get anything to work correctly.
