Did you know I have a little @musicbrainz collection of #CreativeCommons music that I think is very good? Of course you didn't, I never told anyone.

Ruffle through to see if you find stuff that's to your liking!

Of course, "high-quality" is very subjective, but you get the idea. Feel free to let me know if you'd like to curate the collection with moi.

Definitely had a vibe going last week. #ListenBrainzMonday #Musicbrainz

I also found this German techno masterpiece from 2014 in my archive, which I had never ripped back in the day. Many artists on these two CDs didn’t have an artist entry in MusicBrainz, including the main artist. Also, there’s an interesting inconsistency: one artist is credited as “Derfus” in the printed booklet, but as “Diffus” in CD-Text.

This was a pain to add to #MusicBrainz, but at some point I was too invested to quit and finished it. 🎉

So today is my 12 year anniversary as a #MusicBrainz editor! 🥳 I can't remember what caused me to sign up in the first place, but these days I take a lot of joy adding release data. In the last few years, I've started adding concert data too. I believe that #opendata is so important when sites like Songkick, which used to encourage people to build with their API, now place a lot of restrictions and costs on accessing it.
@bierschinken Hey. Habt ihr Lust die Konzerte und Festivals in die #MusicBrainz Datenbank einzutragen? Dann tauchen die auch in meiner FestivalGuide app auf und man kann seine Konzerthistorie pflegen. Alles open source und nicht enshittified.
Meldet euch gerne.

Have you ever wanted to receive new music releases from an artist by RSS? I have for a while and finally made this: https://git.benstokman.me/benjistokman/musicbrainz-rss

It's a simple daemon that serves RSS feeds over HTTP, gotten from the MusicBrainz API. Not that featureful but it works well.

Simple Go daemon that digests Musicbrainz API results into RSS feeds for the purpose of monitoring for new releases, etc.

Going with the top four from last week. I really dig that Unwound. I can't believe I missed hearing them in the 90's! #ListenBrainzMonday #Musicbrainz

Back when we did things like “buy a cd and use iTunes to turn the music into mp3s” I used MusicBrainz Picard a lot to get all the metadata I needed. And then I kind of forgot about MusicBrainz.
Turns out: it is still going strong. It does lack quite a lot of the music I listen to, though. Which might not be so surprising because while I (mostly) listen to pop, there is also a whole bunch of dangdut and Luk thung. So I guess I’ll be doing a whole lot of editing MusicBrainz.

And don’t ask me why. It is mostly so that my ListenBrainz profile doesn’t look bad.
