Many national flags have their own names. Not ours. It harks back to the time of Gustav Vasa in the 1550s; its present-day design was set in 1906.

I never celebrate our national day, but today, for once we'll go see some serious rejoicing. Happy happy, everyone!

On June 6, 1523, Sweden left the Kalmar Union and became independent for good. Commemorating this event began in 1916, but the day was not made National Day until 1983.

Convallaria majalis 3/3

I just realised I really must get myself some lily of the valley scent. My grandma used to have a teeny tiny flacon which was probably really cheap -- but the scent was true, and when the original liquid ran out I filled the flacon with water which smelled just as lovely.
Any tips on what to buy?

The lily of the valley is related to asparagus, but every part of the plant is toxic. Water from the vase is potable, though -- go figure.
