PhilI watched Melodifestivalen religiously from about 2001 until about 2010 which is roughly when they stopped producing the DVDs.
I’ve been lured back this year due to the appearance of long time guilty pleasures - Brandsta City Slackers (singing firemen!) and pop stars A*Teens.
So far, I’ve only caught up on the first heat and it’s been a reminder of just how much effort they put into choosing their song for Europe. It’s a spectacular show and lots of contributions from Swedish song writing legends Thomas G’son and Moa Carlebecker (a.k.a Cazzi Opeia) so the quality is high.
They’re also very proud of their history with this heat featuring a tribute to one of my all time favourites - Växeln Hallå Hallå (with added drag queens)
It’s also worth watching just for madness like this ….
