The Sun in H-Alpha light , 31 august 2024.

Last session in august 2024, before a long pause until december. The weather conditions were not optimal: the processing of each file did require some extra (and "painful") work, specially to highlight the prominences behind the passing clouds and some residual water vapor. The Local Void

There is a huge prominence on the Sun's west limb today, associated with a series of expanding coronal loops that looks set to lift off sooner rather than later. This view in hydrogen alpha light was made about three hours ago.

The Sun in H-Alpha light, 30 august 2024.

On that day, the main feature was a series of some prominences, mostly on the western solar limb where, looking at the biggest ones, pareidolia could show a gazelle, a tree and a crab.
AR 3807 was playing with its plasma tentacles.
On the south eastern limb, a small arc shaped prominence, while the active region AR 3806 and the nearby filaments were moving towards the center of the solar disc.

The Local Void
On Sunday it was 8 years to the day since I photographed the biggest solar #prominence I've ever seen. It was 100,000 km tall & that tiny dot is the approximate size of Earth to scale. Taken with a #CoronadoPST + Canon 1100D with 2x Barlow #Sun #SolarImaging #SuninHAlpha #Chromosphere #SolarFeatures
