Of the many wonderful things in the Roman museum at Mérida, this is my favourite and one of the smallest. The head is smaller than a hen's egg and comes from the height of the empire.

Local #BenchArt
#GenevieveTowsley (1907-1995) was a local journalist, author, and historian. She frequently wrote articles featuring local immigrant families, and her stories resulted in a nearby pool becoming racially integrated. Her work to save a historic building founded the #NapervilleHeritageSociety.

Her bench is very inviting. Pedestrians often stop to rest or take a selfie with Genevieve. She sits outside of a #BarnesAndNoble bookstore, at the corner of Washington St and Chicago Ave in #Naperville #Illinois.

Genevieve's #sculpture has been here many years, but Naperville is known for its wide variety of #SidewalkSculpture displays, which are changed out frequently. The artist is Pamela Carpenter of nearby Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
