As a big Star Wars fan in the 90s, I was always sceptical about the idea that Boba Fett would have survived and could come back in the Expanded Universe.
But turns out, Boba Fett surviving was already established in the Marvel Comics (which the mainstream EU decided to completely ignore) in 1983, just half a year after Return of the Jedi.

The outfit is just too cool for fanfic writers with a license to not bring back immediately. 😄
