Well, it took me nearly all of 2025, but I finally deleted my Goodreads account completely. I moved to Storygraph in the beginning of the year, but I wanted to check that there were no issues with the move of all my data. That was a tedious job so of course I procrastinated a lot. Now the job is done.
I had originally wanted to move to Bookwyrm, but the move there was awful with many mismatches. It would have been faster doing a manual copy/paste of over 1100 reads, not to mention the TBR list. A lot of the Danish books or older (pre-1980s) books simply didn't exist there. At the time I tried this, I had zero energy for being a good community member to help build up a database. :( I was never really active in the community on Goodreads, but I did interact with a few people, and I will miss them. On the other hand, Storygraph gives me all I ever wanted, and that is a tracker of books to read/reading/read, along with any reviews I feel like writing.
Disconnecting from Big Tech/U.S. Tech is hard work at many levels. I know there was a solid community on GR before the Amazon buyout (and before my time). Sometimes I think good community can take back a place despite billionaires butting in where they shouldn't. I didn't have that past investment or the energy to continue. With this housekeeping task completed, I plan to get back to just reading. #bookstodon #BigTech #goodreads

@scottrossi I've read around 170 books in 2025, but #goodreads annual summary says I've read TWO. Apparently the date they were added to 'read' shelf is ignorable.

Have decamped to bed with my book, got 6 days till the end of 2025, got 2 books to finish to make it 80 books read this year.

My original target was 25 books but then I found a couple of new authors & I was on a roll 😍

So with a book title like this, how could I pass it up. The listen is a pretty complicated mystery focused on a murder at a library event. However, the story really lies in the very complex past of the four library workers who are the star of the story. Nice character development, but it feels a bit long. #goodreads
My last Christmas listen this year. The mystery is a quaint little story. I have not read this series before, I hate starting in the middle, but in this case I did not feel lost. Museums, Japanese lost treasures, Santas murdered. It is a really pleasant christmas mystery. #goodreads
This is a charming little mystery. It has a bit of a Mrs. Madrigal feeling. A collective of young people with many personal mysteries. I enjoyed the mystery and the characters and found myself reminiscing about Maupin. It is not Barbary Lane, but for those love that, this is a plausible sub. Recommend. #goodreads
