Shoveling gravel back into the driveway. Not my favorite chore.

First day this year above 70F. Now begins the time of the year where I complain constantly that it is too hot. This "season" lasts until October. #SpringChores #ItIsTooHot

Last day off work & I have soil work to do in backyard. After aerating grounds, I'm sowing fava beans & alfafa seeds over the area that I started remediating work on last Summer.

I managed to get in some work in the gardens between the rains. The compost needed attention, but until a few days ago was under 10 inches of snow.

The hardest spring chore is shoveling the displaced gravel back into the driveway. This was a rough winter of late and my plow guy needed to use the front-loader to plow the last two storms. Alas, it moves a lot of gravel into the flower beds.

Cold today, but not raining, so I got more prep work done in the gardens. I have more compost and organic fertilizer to put down. I might be able to get the root veggies in the raised beds in a few weeks. One of the raised beds for my flowers is slowly breaking from the weight of snow and ice. I'm not sure how to repair it without emptying the soil first. #Gardening #Zone5 #Compost #SpringChores

I'm not the best compost attendant, but it does get turned spring, summer, fall. I have no where near the additions I used to, but here is some fine black gold to top dress around the garden. The barrel composted my dad made for me, I only use it in Sumner.
