Argh bad news on the #garden front this morning.
a) dickhead #deer jumped the fence again, freaked TF out when our sentry sprinkler noticed them, and broke some of the wood fencing stakes around one of the beds.
b) they got ahold of our grapes.
c) I saw my first #SpottedLanternFly.
d) mosquitos are still out for blood and I’m still allergic.

How stressed should I be about the thousands of spotted lantern flies in my yard (Massachusetts)?

We have an overgrowth of Tree of Heaven and some other aggressive vines they laid all the eggs on/usually hang out on.

There must be thousands of them. It's overwhelming.

Squeezed some beadwork in this spring! Border on the flower pattern is uneven, but it’s a mistake easily avoided next time. The brown bg on the lanternfly ended up being more red than I anticipated, so I’ll try a blue bg next time. Hopefully it will make the pattern pop more.

@grammasaurus Perhaps you know this, but if you are anywhere in the Americas or Europe, you should kill them immediately. They are highly invasive and damaging. I say this as an ethical vegan. They're a real problem.

@D_J_Nathanson Yes! They’ve been inching north every year. Last year we didn’t have a lot but seeing this many is a very bad sign.
