It's almost time for the #30DayChartChallenge again!

As I start to plan out which days and prompts I'm going to do this year, I'm trying to implement my own advice from last year!

This year I'm going to focus on the CAPphrase dataset, because there's so many aspects of it I already want to dig into!

Day 13/100: The year I became MapTheClouds ๐ŸŒ

2021 = transformative. #30DayMapChallenge + #30DayChartChallenge

Same year: launched https://maptheclouds.com, created brand/logo, refined COVID-19 network viz for Romania.

Lesson: discipline beats waiting for perfect conditions. Some days โ†’ proud work. Others โ†’ functional experiments. Both mattered. Showing up builds creative muscle memory.

End 2021: not just projects, but practice + platform + direction.

One of the things that has been on my to do list for a very long time, is building a gallery of all of the charts I've made across #TidyTuesday, #30DayChartChallenge, #30DayMapChallenge, and other miscellaneous projects ๐Ÿ“Š

And it's finally here!

I finally got around to writing up a โœจ chart makeover โœจ blog post based on my (deliberately) bad chart created for the #30DayChartChallenge! ๐Ÿ“Š

A step-by-step chart makeover | Nicola Rennie

As part of the 30 Day Chart Challenge in April 2025, I made a (deliberately) bad chart, which didn't follow any data visualisation best practices. In this blog post, we'll go step-by-step through the process of making it better.

#30DayChartChallenge - Day 30: National Geographic theme The final one! I had no idea what the style was so I Googled and found some interesting charts about tea from NatGeo which I used as inspiration. Not happy with the placement of the chart but I quite like the final result. #rstats #dataviz

#30DayChartChallenge - Day 29: Extraterrestrial I chuckled putting this one together for lots of reasons but especially because I loved E.T. as a kid. All data was from IMDB and after failing at scraping it, the {datapasta} was a lifesaver! #rstats #dataviz

#30DayChartChallenge - Day 28: Inclusion What's the opposite of inclusion? Exclusion and this chart compares the rate of adults at risk of poverty or social exclusion in the EU based on their country of birth. #rstats #dataviz

30 Day Chart Challenge 2025 | Nicola Rennie

The 30 Day Chart Challenge is a data visualisation challenge where participants create a chart for each daily prompt. In this blog post, I'll recap the charts I made during the 2025 challenge and discuss the data and tools I used, alongside what I learned during the process.

#30DayChartChallenge - Day 26: Noise Almost there! This one is all about people complaining about noise from loud music and parties in New York City in 2020 and 2024. The colour scheme is inspired by the yellow of the city's taxis. #rstats #dataviz
