Very satisfying, those last few strokes when the log starts cracking and at the next stroke the wedge sinks in deep.
All done with this very reasonably priced Geko 2 kg long handle splitting axe. It has lost some paint from the top but there's no wobble. And nobody had to get a bank loan for a Fiskars axe.
Gave it a clean, sharpen and some oil before hanging it up. Until next time!

Small thing I noticed today: splitting `.mkv` files using `ffmpeg` via the `-ss` and `-t` options works great, but the resulting `.mkv` file contains the wrong number of frames in the metadata. Evidently the total frames from the source file gets written into the metadata instead of the resulting frames post-splitting which is annoying. Not a deal breaker, but kind of annoying...easy to fix with a quick run through `mkvmerge` but still just weird.
Not all pensions are split the same way. This post explains the critical differences between splitting a company pension using CRA’s T1032 form, and splitting CPP benefits through Service Canada. While pension income splitting offers flexibility and tax savings year to year, CPP splitting is a more rigid process—requiring mutual consent both to start and stop.
