Rave In Fire announce second album “Square One”

Drawing inspiration from Spanish legends such as Barón Rojo and Obús, as well as newer acts including Witchtower, Leather Heart, Steelhorse, and Hitten, Rave In Fire continue to build on their traditional metal roots.

Tracks like “Dark Poison,” “Knightwalker,” and the high-energy “Speed and Rave” echo the spirit of Leather Leone-era Chastain, early 1980s Scorpions, and touches of Dio. The title track “Square One” stands out as the album’s epic centrepiece, incorporating progressive elements into the band’s sound.

Pre-orders are available here: High Roller Records.

Rave In Fire are a rising female-fronted traditional metal band, founded in Madrid in 2015. Their first complete line-up led to the release of the EP “Chronicle Of A Timeless End” in 2018, followed by their debut full-length “Sons Of A Lie” in April 2022 via Iron Oxide which was a pivotal moment in the band’s career. In 2024, they marked their German live debut at the long-running Trvheim festival.

“Just like “Sons Of A Lie,” it’s a fully self-produced album,” Rave In Fire explain. “The recording, production, mastering, and most of the songwriting was done by Jonjo Negrete, our guitarist and producer. The drums were recorded at California Studios in Madrid. All songs were performed by the current members of the band; no one else took part.”

Tracks such as “Dark Poison,” “Knightwalker,” and the high-octane “Speed And Rave” channel the spirit of Leather Leone-fronted Chastain, fused with early 80s Scorpions and a touch of Dio. The title track, “Square One,” stands as the album’s grand epic, leaning into progressive metal territory.

“We believe it’s a continuation of the path we have carved for ourselves on the predecessor,” the band note, “with a slightly more experimental touch. Without losing the essence of the band, we’ve explored some new directions to keep growing as musicians. The main difference between “Square One” and its predecessor is that “Sons Of A Lie” was an album conceived for two guitars (we recorded it when we were still a five-piece band). “Square One,” in return, revolves less around guitars and gives a lot of space to the rest of the instruments. Likewise, “Square One” explores paths close to progressive, thrash and speed metal, while “Sons Of A Lie” was following a more conservative approach.”

    Interview: Wicked Leather (Spain)

    5 minutes

    The Nwothm

Barcelona’s underground has a new voice, and it does not whisper. Wicked Leather rose from the wreckage of abandoned projects and late-night noise, forging a sound that is melodic, sinister, and unapologetically sharp. Rooted in traditional heavy metal and shaped by a love of 80s horror, the band channels tension and chaos into something personal. In this interview, TheNwothm explores their origin story, debut single, upcoming album, and the restless energy driving their path through Spain’s heavy metal scene.

    Interview

TheNwothm: Hey there Wicked Leather! Can you please introduce the band and where you are based?

Wicked Leather: We’re Wicked Leather,   Uri on drums , Cosmil on bass, Michel and Alejandro on guitars and me , Yami on vocals. We are based in Barcelona — a city that’s beautiful on the surface and haunted underneath. The band wasn’t born from a plan; it was more of an accident that refused to die. A project that fell apart, then came back to life, and one day I decided to take it seriously — maybe too seriously. That’s when it became something personal, something real.

TheNwothm: For those just discovering Wicked Leather, how would you describe the band in one sentence that captures your spirit?

Wicked Leather: Traditional heavy metal with a sinister twist— melodic, sharp, and slightly unhinged.

TheNwothm: What’s the origin story for Wicked Leather? How did the band come together?

Wicked Leather: It started as a side thing — just noise, riffs, and late nights. I’ve always had a thing for 80s horror movies — that mix of atmosphere, tension, and chaos. Then the noise started to make sense. The songs appeared like fragments — a riff here, a lyric there — until it all formed a shape or a monster  we couldn’t ignore. Wicked Leather became a mirror for what we didn’t say out loud: that heavy metal still has something dangerous to offer if you mean it.

TheNwothm: You’re based in Barcelona, but what part of the city feels most like “home” to the band?

Wicked Leather: The old parts — the alleys where the light never fully reaches. Barcelona has two souls: one for tourists, one for the restless. We belong to the second.

TheNwothm: What’s the heavy metal scene like in Barcelona right now? Any venues or bands you think deserve more attention?

Wicked Leather: It’s alive — stubborn, loud, and honest. Bands like Redshark, Emissary , Pyreforge are keeping the fire from going out. There’s no hype, just passion.

TheNwothm: Your debut single “Echoes of the Storm” dropped in 2024. What drew you to “Night Hunter” and “Lightning Strike” as the opening statement for Wicked Leather?

Wicked Leather: Those songs felt like an opening wound — fast, dark, and direct. They carry that mix of melody and menace that defines what Wicked Leather is about. It’s not nostalgia; it’s channeling the same primal energy that made this genre timeless.

TheNwothm: Was there a moment during the recording of “Echoes of the Storm” when you realized, “This is our sound”?

Wicked Leather: Yes — when we stopped polishing and started feeling. There’s a moment when the imperfection becomes the truth of the song. That’s when it clicked: raw emotion over clean precision.

TheNwothm: The single was released through the mighty Jawbreaker Records! What is it like to work with such an incredible label?

Wicked Leather: Gustav understand the old spirit — that heavy metal isn’t nostalgia, it’s conviction. Jawbreaker gives you space to be dangerous, but expects you to mean every note. That’s rare, and that’s why it works.

TheNwothm: You’re stranded on a desert island with one amp, one song, and one snack. What’s the setup?

Wicked Leather: A solar amp, “24 hours ago ”, and black coffee. Because even isolation deserves a soundtrack — and caffeine.

TheNwothm: If you had to cover a pop song and make it sound like classic heavy metal, which one would you choose?

Wicked Leather: Probably  thriller It’s already got tension, rhythm, and danger — it just needs guitars that bite.

TheNwothm: If your next release had to be themed around a 1980s action movie, which one would you pick and why?

Wicked Leather: “The Terminator.” Cold, relentless, and human underneath the metal emotion hidden inside machinery.

TheNwothm: What’s been your most chaotic or memorable gig so far?

Wicked Leather: We had this show where everything that was supposed to go well went wrong, shit sound on stage, deafening feedback, strings breaking on key solos but we managed to pull through and emerge victorious! Luckily there was a lot of beer backstage to heal our battle wounds.

TheNwothm: What’s next for you gig-wise? Anything brewing for the end of the year or into 2026?

Wicked Leather: We’re planning a few shows across Spain — Enforcer tour on November

Metalcova Fest with Redshark Animalize , Amethyst and the mighty jack Starr , a charity gig with all proceedings going to kids battling cancer called Metal x los xuklis,  also we are supportinh  Satan on Febraury and we are planning further touring for the remainder of 2026.

TheNwothm: You have your new album “Season of the Witch” out in January! What can you tell fans about it?

Wicked Leather: It’s a journey through the hidden side  — the animal, the occult, the instinct beneath the structure. It’s melodic, but it breathes fire. Think of it as an invocation: not a collection of songs, but a spell written in riffs.

TheNwothm: How can fans buy your music and merch?

    Wicked Leather:

Through lostrealm records , or directly at our shows.

TheNwothm: Where can fans follow you online?

    Wicked Leather:

    Facebook : wicked leather

    Instagram: wicked leather

TheNwothm: Anything else you would like to mention?

Wicked Leather: Yes. Keep the fire honest. Play loud, think deeper, and never confuse comfort with freedom. Support your local bands !!!
