Is there a software which moves the Volume Hud back to the center of the screen in #MacOS Tahoe?

lol, before I even posted this I found https://github.com/dannystewart/volumeHUD

Sadly, it doesn't work with #SoundSource Super Volume Key.

@matdevdug never heard of it but seeing the screenshot I can see how useful it can be

@atpfm re: #headphones and #EQ discussion, wanted to share that https://autoeq.app exists which will output EQ configurations for an extensive list of EQ apps (#SoundSource is their recommended app for macOS) I use one of the Audio-Technica profiles for my ATH-M50s in order to get a flat response for music production use. Recommend it.
AutoEq

Automatic headphone equalization

Finally solved tiny annoyance I had - routing music from #qobuz / #spotify to external speakers and having all other sounds play via build-in MBP speakers; plus being able to adjust volume on per-app basis with #soundsource rogueamoeba.com/soundsource/

Has anyone here used the Sound Source app for Mac to control each individual apps volume?

I'm curious how well it works or if there's something others recommend that might be better in their opinion.

@amerpie tagging you since you use a ton of MacOS apps and might have thoughts on this one.

@amerpie Haven't heard of this one. Will check it out! I use #SoundSource by @RogueAmoeba to do similar things like running a compressor fx on my Teams audio to make the volume disparities less irritating.

@uliwitness @storiesofapple On the #Mac you can find this in the #macOS Control Center in your menu bar. You can even have a special menu item appear when something is playing: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/change-control-center-settings-mchlad96d366/mac

#SoundSource by @RogueAmoeba goes further by optionally displaying app-specific mute-able volume meters in the menu bar, as well as controlling per-app volume, effects, and audio output destinations: https://RogueAmoeba.com/support/manuals/soundsource/?page=menubarcontrols#details-on-menu-bar-meters

Modern enough for you?

Change Control Center settings on Mac

On your Mac, use Control Center settings to choose which items to include in Control Center and which items appear in the menu bar.

Apple Support

I either need to write a tool that tries to play (and simultaneously record) an audio sample and if it get's silence runs

`sudo killall coreaudiod audiomxd`

..or hope it's something #Apple knows about and will fix in future #macOS updates.

Or hope it's related to @RogueAmoeba
's #SoundSource still using their old ACE kernel extension and that being somewhat incompatible with recent Sonoma updates (they're moving away from it - SoundSource is the last app on my system that still needs it).

In the meantime it's getting old to lose my system sounds randomly every other day or sometimes multiple times a day with no known reason and the internet only telling me "yeah me too”

#random

If, like me, you are a user of more than one @RogueAmoeba product, you might want to know that, while the move to a new capture backend in #AudioHijack is great news for the future, right now, since it’s the only product that has been updated for this, there is a conflict with other RA products. Namely, if you try to capture the sound of app that is also controlled via #SoundSource, SS affects the volume level of the capture itself, and you need to quit it first.
I think the expression you are looking for is „Microsoft #Teams is running“. #SoundSource
