@ubuntourist
I looked it up to verify.
While the words appear in Chapter 9 of "It Can't Happen Here", it's actually a combined edit of several lines describing the character across multiple paragraphs.
(Still dead-on though.)
It even mentions the future president speaking at the "Y.M.H.A" (predecessor to the #YMCA.) 😆

I think perhaps we want a more conscious life. We're tired of drudging and sleeping and dying. We're tired of seeing just a few people able to be individualists. We're tired of always deferring hope till the next generation.

Just look at the start of chapter 12 of “It can’t happen here” with an excerpt of the book of dear leader. Sound familiar, doesn’t it?
I'm still wondering whether Trump (or his writer(s)) could be sued for plagiarism?

HUH!
Svenska Ylen #Kulturpodden käsitteli äsken mm. vuoden '30 nobelistin Sinclair Lewisin vuonna '35 ilmestynyttä It Can't Happen Here / Meillä sitä ei voi tapahtua, joka kertoo pressaksi valitusta tyypistä, josta tulee #USA:n eka diktaattori, ja jonka puheet ja teot menevät aivan yksiin Dumpin kera.

Advertising is a valuable economic factor because it is the cheapest way of selling goods, particularly if the goods are worthless.

A new approach and new start for Tales From Progress City.
TLDR: I’m officially inviting artists of all media to begin creating stories and making work (via my Creative Commons license) within my fictional universe known as Progress City, a fake US Midwestern metropolis with a funhouse-mirror version of Chicago’s history
