I remember how much I struggled in school and it was only after getting an #IEP through #IDEA that I started getting accomodations. That was in high school and I've thought what if I'd been able to have them earlier. Would I be struggling less now? There's no way of knowing, but a lot of kids will be left without accomodations because of this. Is there still #Section504 through the #ADA I wonder? I know that was being threatened months ago.

Friends, please help make the public aware of Section 504's importance by sharing your story. Read the below post from my girlfriend, Kaleigh Brendle, to learn more. Your voice matters. Thank you. #Save504

So the 504 coordinator at my kid's school is *happy* to be working for RFK now and is convinced that the state case brought to end the 504 section of the ADA is really just limited to one kind of protection they want removed.

These people work for the schools, we're super fucked.

Is this the America we want?

The Rehabilitation Act of 1973 was signed into law by President Richard Nixon in September of 1973. Section 504 of that act codified the civil rights of persons with disabilities. “No otherwise qualified individual” can be, simply because of their disability, “denied the benefits of, or subjected to discrimination" in any program or activity that receives federal funds.

Now 16 states have joined Texas in a lawsuit asking the court to declare Section 504 unconstitutional.
