Lange Zeit https://monocles.eu/search mit Searx als Hauptsuchmaschine genutzt. Bis es leider nicht mehr ging.

Nun eben ein Video zu https://searxng.org gesehen, das ich mir 2023-03 auch schon notiert hatte (aber vergessen, warum wieder abgekommen). Next try.

Anyone still manages to use searx? I get error messages from most engines, and the few that do return results return low quality ones that aren't even in the specified language. I started using searx about three years ago and at first it worked well. Then I had to either change my engine settings or switch instances increesingly often. The instance in this example is search.disroot.org, which seemed to work for me a small while ago, then worked inconsistantly, then not at all. I've never ran my own instance, I don't think I'm equipped for that at tbe moment, but would that solve the issue? Or are there other public instances not facing these problems? Or —I hope not— did these search engines companies start garding themselves against meta search engines using their results, to force us to use them directly?

Interessant ist, es scheint nochmal ein paralleler "europäischer Index" zu dem OWI (Open Web Index; https://openwebindex.eu) zu sein. Schade eigentlich, dass da keine Synergieeffekte genutzt wurden (oder?)

I feel like using Ecosia when you don't go to advertisements provided doesn't help the planet much more than, say, Startpage and might even be worse just because Ecosia gives you the ability to chat with OpenAI(Which also is negative for other reasons.). If anyone can help me to work through this, please do, I'll be very thankful!!!
Some things to consider:
Ecosia uses energy provided by 100% renewable energy to show you the search results. Startpage does not to my knowledge.
Ecosia does have more data collection than Startpage which adds to the point of it being worse for the environment in my given scenario.
If any one of the companies are on Mastodon, they could respond, too.
@ecosia and @StartpageSearch !!!
