This is #Craigievar #Castle run by the National Trust for Scotland #NTS. It is famous for its pink colour but also for its inside rooms. We are staying at a cottage on the estates right upon the tower and it is spectacoulus to wake up in the morning with a view to such a beautiful castle.
We visited the #UNESCO World Heritage Site of #NewLanark. It was a cotton mill in the valley of the #Clyde to use its water power. The founder David Dale and his son-in-law Robert Owen built housing for the workers. Owen cared about good conditions for his workers and the education of the kids. It was a famous example of a planned settlement in his times. Even the prussian architect Schinkel came to visit the town to study the urban planning and the living conditions.
Today we visited Culzean Castle at the coastline of #Ayrshire A really impressive castle bond to the Kennedy family (not the president) until the end of WWII and was then handed over to the National Trust #NTS
We did a trip to #Abbotsford house, the home of Sir Walter Scott. He was one of the most famous scottish writers of his time and wrote books like Ivanhoe or Rob Roy. Indeed, you still feel his presence in the house.
We made a stop at #Jedburgh #Abbey #JedburghAbbey and visited the impressive ruins of the ancient Augustinian buildings.

Last not least a wonderful walk near #Rockcliff at the Coastal Path to Castle Point View. The path is also maintained by the #NTS
Next, we went to Broughton House & Garden at #Kirkcudbright. It was the Edwardian home and studio of Scottish artist E A Hornel. In the back, a beautiful japanese inspired garden
Today, we did a little "National Trust for Scotland"-Tour #NTS to three quite different locations of the trust in #Dumfries and #Galloway
We started at Threave Garden and Nature Reserve. The only Scottish garden dedicated to the training of horticulturists. Very beautiful.
