We visited the #UNESCO World Heritage Site of #NewLanark. It was a cotton mill in the valley of the #Clyde to use its water power. The founder David Dale and his son-in-law Robert Owen built housing for the workers. Owen cared about good conditions for his workers and the education of the kids. It was a famous example of a planned settlement in his times. Even the prussian architect Schinkel came to visit the town to study the urban planning and the living conditions.

Had the day off work today, so I took the opportunity to head down the road to New Lanark. It's a really interesting site, and the nearby Cora Linn waterfall at the Falls of Clyde is stunning.

Heute die Ausstellung in #NewLanark besucht. 15 Pfund Eintritt pro Person sind ein stolzer Preis, aber gerechtfertigt. Anschließend den #Clyde von New Lanark hochgewandert bis zum Sperrwerk, insgesamt hin- und zurück 5 km. Der Wasserfall war beeindruckend, bei Wikipedia kann man ein Photo sehen, wenn der Fluss deutlich mehr Wasser führt. Insgesamt ein gelungener Tag, sagen die Mitreisenden. :)
