Die Klimakrise – eigentlich kein Thema? Wissenschaftler:innen zu Gates‘ „Memo“ – Lost and Found

#Sportswashing happens when fossil fuel companies seek to launder their tarnished reputations through tactics such as the million-dollar sponsorship that some say has turned #LosAngeles #Dodger Stadium, a beloved community institution that's home to world champions, into a billboard for #BigOil.

The #SierraClub is hosting a free webinar, moderated by #LosAngelesTimes climate columnist #SammyRoth with speakers #BillMcKibben and #NaomiOreskes.

Sportswashing: Propaganda at Play

Nationally renowned thought leaders discuss the impacts of sportswashing, a practice wherein fossil fuel and other companies seek to launder their tarnished reputations through tactics such as the million-dollar sponsorship that some say has turned Dodger

Once again the utter folly of #HydroElectricity gets #greenwashed by the media. What long-term lessons has anyone learned from decades of #draught, followed by months of #atmosphericrivers; Apparently, none?
Don’t squander this opportunity to #RemoveTheDams and (finally) #decommission #Hydro & #NuclearEnergy.
#SammyRoth - you can do better than this

Column: Water is life. It's also energy — whether you like dams or hate them

Hydropower is a fact of life in the American West, and a key piece of solving the climate puzzle.

Column: It's election day in California. If you care about climate, go vote

It's not the only thing that matters, but it's one of the big ones.

#Decarbonization of the #ElectricalGrid requires efficiency as well as #scale. #POTUS & #DOE cannot be timid (or politically neutral) in their Grand Architecture. #PublicLands (onshore & offshore) should be used to site vast #farms of #RenewableEnergy & #LDES - #BESS. Forget about #AskingPermission, just #FuckingDoIt Now!

#SammyRoth succumbs to #NuclearMadness (again). How long will this episode last?
Nobody should take #NuclearGrifters & #NuclearBros seriously as they spew their #NuclearBullshit everywhere. Their #CleanEnergy #FeverDream is powered by #FUD & #Graft and #ratepayers - #taxpayers are their marks. #JustSayNo!

If only nuclear power were an easy climate change solution

Navigating the energy transition will be hard, whether we like it or not.

Two actions will stabilize the CA #grid; 1/ Abandon the #BaseloadParadigm. It is dead. 2/ Use #BehavioralChange to manage demand and consumption.

#Decarbonization, #Electrification & #BehavioralChange #AtScale are the only tools which will work to solve the #ClimateEmergency. Use them.

Would an occasional blackout help solve climate change?

Shutting down gas plants faster could reduce carbon pollution — while also causing power shortages.

Journalists (and #SammyRoth is a good one) continue to make a #DogsBreakfast out of the language associated with the #ClimateEmergency. Why do they call it #Green, or #Clean or #Sustainable or #whatever other dubious term, when it should simply be referred to as ‘#CarbonFree (or NOT)?’

Boiling Point: It's not easy being green

I wish solving climate change weren't so complicated. But it is.
