Holy moly, every time I mess around with nginx configs, I always end up breaking it 😂 but i think it was worth it.

Since im self hosting, i wanted to upgrade it to use http/3. So at least it will reuse connections and all the additional magic that is http/3!

With #Cloudron 9.1 we introduced a simpler way for people to share per-built app packages also allowing package devs to publish updates which get automatically (if wanted of course) picked up and installed by other Cloudrons 📦

To see which packages are already lined up for you to spin, check out the new forum section: https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/15172/community-apps

Just read more about #NetBird and excited there is a totally #opensource alternative to #Tailscale. I think I need to wait for Tailscale to do something stupid before switching though. Need that outrage energy to rebuild everything with a new system.

In case you’re wondering how screwed the SSD and broader storage market is:

Just last week, I bought 5 8TB WD Red Pro NAS drives on Amazon to be delivered the following week. Amazon limited me to 3 hard drives, even across multiple orders, so I used my coworker’s account to buy 2 more. I couldn’t find any other high-TBW CMR 8TB hard drives anywhere else, no matter the brand or retailer.

Less than a week later, and now Amazon says “available to ship in 1-2 days”, but “fastest delivery July 21-31”. That’s 18 WEEKS! 4 MONTHS!

Hope none of y’all were planning to buy new hard drives any time soon.

@jameskimber I can gladly say, been there done that! I currently have over 70 containers running on docker split between 2 servers. Do i use all of them? Absolutely not, but i definitely enjoyed setting them up and all the pains that came along with it. Not to mention the dozens of time where i spend about 3 days setting up a service to perfection, just to end up not using it. I would say #selfhosting was what made my switch to linux much more gentle, even though it's a different system ( #debian -> #arch ).

PSA for fellow self-hosters: bots will probe your services. We caught one trying to scrape sensitive files via CrowdSec — .env variants, AWS credentials, config files, and more. Others targeted common PHP/WordPress misconfigs.

If you're running anything public-facing, assume it's being scanned.
