Whenever I read @tzimmer_history commentary on Brooks or the GOP, and see his analysis of the kind of pastel-colored nonsense they have been spouting about America's past, I am reminded of the satirical #songwriter #RoyZimmerman.

For years (well, now decades) he has been talking about the Republicans' "faux-stalgia" which he also calls "The Mayberry Syndrome." Another way to look at our nation.
