Our Land | Documentary

Our Land dares to tread where few have trespassed before, asking the timely question of who has the right to roam in the English countryside? The UK is a wild and beautiful place, but the vast majority of it is off limits to the general public, with 92% of land and 97% of all rivers in England not legally accessible. At the same time, it is a landscape shaped by centuries of inheritance and tradition, with land held and cared for by families across multiple generations.

9) reporting landowners who selfishly try to stop public access to local paths #RightToRoam 💪 Whoops... still can't count...
The landowner had put notices on the gate about it being private farmland... it's at the end of a patch of bramble filled scrubland... that is open on all sides... and it makes no sense... other than the landowner expressing their power over ordinary people... if only we had the #RightToRoam here...
@caskfan was drinking a #RightToRoam by #BuxtonBrewery at #TheForesters on Thursday at 15:02 Served from cask, I rated it at 4.0 (great) #beer #alcohol #untappd #beersofmastodon

Book review – Wild Service: Why Nature Needs You – Edited by Nick Hayes and Jon Moses

Packed with enchanting essays about people’s personal relationships with nature. Several brought a tear to my eye.

It looks at why many people have lost the deep connection with the natural world that was once taken for granted.
Another theme is Right to Roam. Unlike in Germany or Scotland, citizens in England and the US are unable to walk where they wish without trespassing.

A line in the sand: the fence dividing residents in Sandbanks

Residents in Sandbanks are arguing over access to a beach which has been fenced off by homeowners.

#UK #catsofmastodon #righttoroam our neighbour complained about our cat going to their balcony...I guess people still think she's a tom just because she is ginger, she is neutered and doesn't spread but does enjoy her range of patrol. Not sure what to do.
The annual Dartmoor hike-and-camp trip with G is done for another year. I wouldn't mind being back there now with this view, although I'd happily skip the torrential rain that arrived the following morning as we walked down from the moor. #hiking #walking #camping #righttoroam #dartmoor
