This coming Sunday is #ChristTheKing or #ReignOfChrist. The feast was created in 1925 by Pope Pius XI as a way to cap off the Jubilee year of ‘25 AND as a way to theologically combat the rise of ultra-nationalism that was beginning to take root.

It’s just as important now, 100 years later, as it was then.
#Episcopal #SLECBuffalo #OnlyOneKing

Contrasts of visions: an LGTBQ club shot up in #Colorado; 5 dead. A college bus overturning with many injured & killing 1 . Add to it the war in #Ukraine.
And yet today we stand up and proclaim the #ReignofChrist in the midst of this. Maybe today’s image isn’t so much one of majesty and lauding over us but the one who’s in the midst of, alongside, and close-by.
In other news, as I may have mentioned before, we're marking a long #Advent at Grace #UMC. But does that mean we have to skip the great #ReignOfChrist hymns? Pastor says we'll work a few end.
