Glasgow’s No Code Rebrands as SCREEN BURN After a Decade of Acclaimed Games
No Code, the BAFTA and multi-award-winning Glasgow studio behind critically acclaimed titles such as Stories Untold and Observation, has today announced a major rebrand. After a decade of operating under its original name, the studio is stepping into a new era as SCREEN BURN Interactive.
Founded in 2015 as a two-person team, the name “No Code” was a defiant statement about the studio’s ambition to do big things despite its limitations. Now, after ten years of growth and success, the team has evolved into a multi-disciplinary studio filled with incredible developers, making the original name a relic of their past.
Jon McKellan, Founder and creative director, told the Scottish Games Network:
We’re not who we were in 2015. We’ve grown and changed. For a start, we have coders now! So, we needed a name that instead reflects what’s always been at the heart of the games themselves: the imperfect feel of old technology and the lasting impact of a story that stays with you long after the credits roll.
The new name, SCREEN BURN, perfectly captures that spirit. The studio compares “the ghost of an image burned into an old CRT screen” to the powerful memory of a game that becomes forever imprinted onto your mind. It’s a concept that resonates deeply with the haunting, unforgettable experiences the team is known for creating.
The newly-named studio continues its work on the highly anticipated SILENT HILL: Townfall in partnership with Konami Digital Entertainment (KONAMI) and Annapurna Interactive.
This marks an exciting new chapter for one of Scotland’s most distinctive and celebrated development studios.
