RickWe can’t address this (https://kolektiva.social/@shrugdealer/111494784655434327) without significant investment in regional and intercity rail transit. We need medium- and high-speed *electric* rail between the most popular city pairs.
One of the advantages to rail transit is it supports stops with virtually no inconvenience. One train trip can service multiple city pairs (e.g. San Diego LA to San Jose to San Francisco) because a stop literally only takes a few minutes, and through passengers don’t need to take any action, like putting away their stuff or putting on seatbelts.
Not every route needs to be to be truly high speed, but we have to do better than today’s abysmal offerings.
