I have now hooked up my Geiger counter w/ Radpro firmware to home assistant using esphome on the esp32-s3 and esphome's usb_host / usb_uart components.
Just had to create a small custom esphome component that implements radpro's serial protocol to poll the geiger counter.

A year ago I read about radpro, an open source firmware which turns mediocre chinese geiger counters into great geiger counters. I got one, not because I need a geiger counter but who doesn't want to have a decent radiation detector to play with for ~40€.
Now someone cool built radpro-wifi-bridge, a esp32-s3 firmware that connects radpro to a mqtt broker using the esp32's wifi. And it works! Soon my home assistant might have geiger counter measurements 🤓
